Noir at the Bar
Noir at the Bar is a storytelling series that happens monthly in cities around the US. The organizer of the Seattle series, Nick Feldman, approached me about designing stylish, eye-catching posters for his event that felt evocative of classic noir imagery and used limited color to keep printing costs down. Finding a balance between paying homage to classic noir stories and imagery and tipping over into objectification was tricky, but ultimately rewarding. The final designs get at the essence of noir in a pared-down aesthetic: dangerous women, vices, and darkness.
Responsibilities: illustrating noir-themed images with limited color, typography

BlaseballCares Merchandise
BlaseballCares is a fan-run merchandise store selling designs based on The Game Band’s Blaseball browser game, with all profits donated to charity. As soon as I joined the dynamic Blaseball fan community, I was compelled to contribute to the rich and ever-growing collection of art inspired by the game. The Steaks logo went through many iterations with feedback from the team’s fans at every step, ultimately arriving at the final red, black, and gray version. “Do It For Violence” quickly became one of the best-selling designs on the site, and the Steaks logo has been adapted for print and embroidery on a variety of products.
Responsibilities: logo design and typography for the Dallas Steaks blaseball team, typography and hand-lettering for “Do it for Violence”

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine
Where the Water Tastes Like Wine by Dim Bulb Games is a bleak American folk tale about traveling, telling stories, and surviving on the fringes. I was familiar with the mood and aesthetic of the game from illustrating some of the random story events, so the creative director approached me about making a poster to celebrate the writers of those story events using art from the game. To better fit the rough, aged, dirty feel of the game, I hand-aged and textured the type. For the lyrics sheet, I used an illustration from the game, customized the existing logo by Jackson Armstrong, and created additional spot illustrations to evoke a sheet music booklet from the 1930s.
Responsibilities: concept, typography, design, and additional illustration for the lyrics sheet to accompany the Gold Mountain DLC; art selection, typography, and design for the “vignettes” poster

Diaspora: Flight
Diaspora: Flight is a spacefaring board game in development by Kingbreaker Games, in which players pilot generation ships from the wreckage of Earth to a distant habitable planet. The game designers requested a look drawing from classic science fiction shape language and color schemes, with elements evoking ship materials like steel, plastics, and satellite UI. The designs went through several iterations before landing on the sharp yet textured aesthetic of the regular game cards, then a few more before deciding on the final “landing zone” design that needed to fit with the aesthetic of the rest of the game yet remain visually distinct from across a table. For the landing zone design I kept some of the angular shape language from the standard cards, but emphasized the text contrast and icon prominence.
Responsibilities: branding for the studio and game, layout and typography for each card type, card element design, iconography, custom font creation for icons, developing an accessible color palette
